Where do your vehicles actually wait?
- Invisible vehicles
- Nobody can say exactly where a car is or who has it without walking the workshop.
- Waiting, not working
- Most elapsed recon time is spent waiting for parts, approvals, sublet or photography.
- Holding cost
- Every extra day off the frontline adds holding cost and depreciation, and keeps the car out of online search.
- No baseline
- Without stage-level timing, “recon is slow” can’t be turned into a fix.
- Stage-by-stage tracking
- Every vehicle’s position in the pipeline, who has it and how long it has been there.
- 72-hour target
- Time-to-frontline measured against a target the dealership sets, with each stage’s share of the delay.
- Bottleneck alerts
- Vehicles waiting on parts, approvals or a sublet flagged before they cost another day of holding.
- Vendor and sublet visibility
- External work tracked alongside the workshop, so nothing disappears off-site.
Smart Recon questions
What is Smart Recon?
Smart Recon is a vehicle reconditioning workflow for used-car departments. It tracks every vehicle from acquisition through inspection, mechanical, body and cosmetic, detail, photography and listing to ready for sale, measures time in each stage against a 72-hour target, and shows management exactly where vehicles are getting stuck.
What does the 72-hour recon target mean?
72 hours is a target for moving a vehicle from acquisition to ready-for-sale. Smart Recon measures every vehicle against it, stage by stage, so you can see which stage is costing the most time. It is a management target, not a guarantee — the value is in making delays visible.
Can we use Smart Recon without the rest of the platform?
Yes. Smart Recon is available as a standalone product, and connects to the wider Smart Auto Solutions platform if you add other modules later.
Does it track sublet and external vendors?
Yes. Work sent to panel shops, trimmers, wheel repairers and other vendors is tracked alongside in-house work, so vehicles do not disappear off-site.
Who uses Smart Recon day to day?
Used-car managers, reconditioning and workshop managers, detailers and photographers update and use the board; dealer principals and GMs see the summary in Dealer Intelligence.
